Introducing
An off-grid streetlight and auxiliary power source that combines wind and solar energy, battery storage, and remote monitoring capabilities
Case Study:
When the time came to install lighting along the walkway outside its gymnasium, the Illinois Institute of Technology had already made significant strides toward reducing carbon emissions. In fact, the Institute’s gym was a net-zero building, with much of its power being generated by the solar panels covering its roof. The school was proud of its efforts. But there was a problem: nobody knew the school was “going green” since the panels were hidden. So when the school sought an exterior lighting provider, they discovered that Aris Wind’s RPU offered the perfect solution: an off-grid streetlight powered entirely by renewable sources, and, with its eye-catching wind turbine and solar panel, was visibly “green energy.” Now the school is not only protecting the environment with its renewable exterior lighting, but it’s also getting noticed for it. The IIT installation was seen by ComED, the Chicago electric utility, which then purchased 5 RPUs and donated them to Chicago Public Schools. (The installation at IIT was documented in an industry whitepaper, and the ComED installation is described in papers in our Press section.)

SUSTAINABILITY
The Remote Power Unit is powered entirely by wind and solar energy, emitting zero carbon emissions, protecting the the environment and the health of all citizens.
RESILIENCY
Off-grid powered. When the grid goes down, the RPU stays up.
GREEN MESSAGING
Provides a highly visible means for the end user to project its sustainability messaging to the community.
AUXILIARY POWER
The RPU produces more power than is necessary for lighting, which allows the unit to use that power in other ways: Self-Powered Internet, STEM for schools, USB Charging.
